Rioters got a tank

Day of Salamon in Hungary. This well known name comes from the Hebrew means peaceful.
T-34
Yesterday, on my Chaoren blog, I have posted some extra photos about the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution in Hungary. Amongst others, I posted this T-34 tank which was an exhibit as well as a decoration for the events in remembering those times on the Deák Square in Budapest. I took this photo of the tank on Saturday evening.
After (and partly during) the official ceremonies on Monday, there were riots again on the streets and invading the Deák Square where they showcase the exhibited weapons and even managed to fix the engine of this T-34. I found this video on the www.index.hu news portal about the same tank when rioters got onto it. They reported that after taking few meters the police stopped them and they took the tank from the rioters.
Its not a performance....its the reality of Budapest again.

When I first read your post I thought the idea funny. I imagined the tank barely rolling along. Then looking at the video I realize how serious and dangerous this was ... I hope the unrest ends soon.

..first when I heard it I found it funny too..especially knowing that the police stopped them immediately. But looking at the video I also saw it was in the middle of the scandal.

I have been reading a lot about this situation. Rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons. Not the best way to celebrate a aaiversary. I guess they don't like Ferenc Gyurcsany.

My first thought, was: The rioters brought a mechanic? It is fortunate no one got run over by the tank. Be safe.

Clearly, this whole thing was organized and has been in planning for a long time. Clearly, the "protesters" had someone with access and knowledge to equip the tank with whatever hardware had been taken out for safety reasons.

Zsolt, köszönöm a szép fotókat. Remélem majd nemsokára enyhül a helyzet nálatok.

Micheal, Bill..I just saw the news..and yes it was obviously a planned action. From the exhibited tank the staff of the military museum removed all the electronics and the accumulator too. Rioters had to replace them and I dont think people just go to "peaceful" protest with a T-34 accumulator cables. They couldnt cause larger damage just because the tank had minimum fuel only.

Your site with the music is wonderful. I spent there some time:) Köszönöm a magyar szavakat:)

Jing..thank you for the nice wishes..everything gonna be find. I guess my country has to make real serious decisions.

Lisi..that photo is very famous..like a symbol of the 1956 revolution. its a honour that you deal with this topic:)

Stefan..I dont mind if they dislike the prime minister Gyurcsány. But these riots will make him stronger only in a way. I want peace and I dont care who is the prime minister:)

Curly..Kris..I have an other thought about this tragic and shameful events too. We dont have to pretend everything is ok. Because its not. It seems nowdays everyone plays out the cards. And hopefully the game is over, soon.

How tragic. The video doesn't say peace. Stay safe.

That's some country you've got there. Does the tank run on diesel?

On the information stand it crushed, was that a tourist info board or advertisement board....again and as always, very interesting.

I also meant to include stay away from tanks/be safe. For something so heavy, that sure moves quickly.
