The other day Lachezar asked in a comment what was the name of the bridge in the background of my saturday traffic photo. This is that bridge....the Szabadság híd (Freedom bridge). Originally it was called Franz Joseph bridge after the last emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
---------------------------------------------------
The right answer to the previous question was A, the KuK Monarchy. It lasted till 1918 when right after the I World War in the autumn the Chrisantemum Revolution started with Mihály Károlyi and in couple of months from 1919 March 21 the 133 days long Hungarian Soviet Republic came with the communist Béla Kun. Stormy times and my poor grandma was only 2 years old baby.
(Congratulations for those who found it out. And don't worry if you've not. The game will last till 12th of November even if you've joined later, you still have a chance for the prize! Just answer in my comments box, and you are AUTOMATICALLY playing;)
Jing wrote me an instant message on yahoo about the right answer as she has technical problems in China and she couldnt open my comments. Of course I accepted her answer:)
Today the question is about me.:)
How to prounance my name (Zsolt)?
A, "Z" is like the Russian Z (zeloniy, zolotoy) or English Z (zodiac) and the "S" is silent behind it.
B, "Zs" is a special double letter and prounanced like the French "J" (Jean, Jeacques)
C, "Z" is silent and "S" is prounanced like English S (salt, sound, secret).

Beautiful bridge, too. I'm also loving the name day explanation you started to add to your posts a while back.

I love the bridges in Budapest!
amazing bridge, such fine details and it is GREEN! imagine repainting it, it must be a daunting job! I love this photo!
that's a very nice bridge, i especially like the name.
let’s try the answer to today's q:
A, "Z" is like the Russian Z (zeloniy, zolotoy) or English Z (zodiac) and the "S" is silent behind it.
Je vote pour 'B'.
La photo et les couleurs sont magnifiques. j'adore ces vieux ponts, on peut faire souvent de tres belles photos.
I vote for “B”.
The photograph and the colors are splendid. I adore these old bridges, one can often make very beautiful photographs.
The Budapest bridges are so beautiful, and you got this one just under the right light so bridge and river come to life!
As for Zs it is a special double letter, but I think is pronounced more like the English Z (Zodiak). Isn't Zsolt a variant of Zoltan or the other way around?
The close-up of this bridge allows us to see the details of it--nice. I vote for C. It's a wild guess, but...perhaps I am right.
really nice bridge's perspective
Nice capture of this beautiful bridge..
I vote for B.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. This bridge is lovely, and is the same color as the bridge I was standing on here in Seattle when I photographed the boat. I love the lines of this bridge, and your photo composition is very attractive. Kudos!

Great bridge, as for your name I am GUESSING B...

Magnificent bridge. The time of day to make the shot has been an excellent choice. Answer to the quiz is: B
Bridge looks majestic!
My answer is A. That's how I have been pronouncing it when I visit your site. haha... Is it correct?
My guess is A. However my guess is not based on any knowledge it is purely a guess.
The bridge is interesting to me in that is seems very low and close to the water.
one of my fave subject for photography - the bridget. Great photo, Zsolt!
the pressure is on, my guess is "C" ;))
ps. i'm a Petaling Jaya-i. though Kuala lumpuri sounds cute !
oops, i mistaken with "Sz" my answer is "B" ...ah, its ok! take my first answer.
thank you for your answers and comments:)
Meg..yesterday you gave a very detailed answer. You work a lot on my questions:)
Olivier..from a real Frenchman I expected to find out the right answer. For English speaking people its so hard to me to explain "ZS" but if I say JEAN to a French he/she will know immediately!
Lachezar...Zs is really a double letter...but Zoltán is a totally different name. Zoltán is prounanced like Zodiac but Zs is different then Z.
Keropok man...almost everyone call me like Zolt when I am abroad...but maybe at least some of you know how to say: Zsolt:)
Kris..I will check Petaling Jaya on map and on google earth if possible. I am sure its a superexotic place:) (exotic for a Hungarian means: a desired place)
Thank you for your visits and your interest toward my country, my language and toward my site!
34 year old Salt and vinegar!
I got distracted, wanted to say how fantastic this shot and place is. Great colour on the bridge, and the sun going down behind works well on the opposite bank. Fantastic! Well done sea zsolt.
I need to add my congratulations here Zsolt72, it's a cracking good shot! Great colour and composition, like a postcard!
