Taurus

Day of Réka in Hungary. An old Hun name she was the wife of Attila the Hun.
Taurus
Right now this statue is on the Boráros tér right beside the Petőfi bridge in Pest. But originally this statue belonged to the old national theater. Now standing there all alone on that square....i dont know why they didnt bring it to the new national theater to his mates:)

What is the ancient symbol-animal of Hungary?

A, The Taurus on the Boráros square
B, The Turul visible in the Palace of Buda
C, The Lions on the chain bridge

(if you spend enough time exploring Budapest DP you can find the answer but pure guess is a good game too to try your luck):)

------------------------------
The right answer to the previous question is A, Harry Hill Bandholtz was a general who prevented a group of Romanian soldier from removing the treasures of the National Museum in 1919.
There were no American (or any other) zones in Budapest nor in 1919 neither in 1945. Only this crazy guy (me) found it out:)

(Congratulations for those who found it out. And don't worry if you've not. The game will last till 12th of November even if you've joined later, you still have a chance for the prize! Just answer in my comments box, and you are AUTOMATICALLY playing;)

C The lions.
This Taurus looks a little lonely all the way up the greek column by itself.

B... Though I propose the melting blue cow is more humorous and render to cute souvenirs more easily - can you imagine? Coffee cups, T-shirts, tote bags and little cowie banks?

en lisant l'article wikipedia c'est pas ce que j'avais compris (pour la question d'hier).
Superbe et surprenante photo aujourd'hui, je vote pour C.

by reading the article wikipedia it is not what I had understood (for the question of yesterday). Superb and surprising photo today, I vote for C.

dear Olivier...your answer was almost right for yesterday...but the C version I gave said: the commander of the AMERICAN ZONE in Budapest but there were no zones at all. He was the commander of ALL. Sorry..maybe I was too tricky.

What an interesting statue.

Perhaps it is best to have it stand alone - it has a most dramatic effect that way.

What an amazing statue. It looks like a bath or else I need some different glasses! Like the traffic in the background giving perspective. I'm presuming you took this from a hill or tall building.

JaamZIN said...

not from a hill..but from the stairs leading to the bridge:)

Thank you for your comments and the answers to the question.:)

Jazzy..I like history very much. Sorry guys if I put too many questions about the history to my quiz.:)

Meg..the conclusion...there is no conclusion...one is sure Réka and Attila the Hun had surelly not a boring marriage:)

alice said...

Zsolt, i wonder if Réka rode horses...If she didn't, i suppose she has had to find many ways to pass her time while Attila led his troops from east to west...

Alice...I dont think in the mornings she stayed at home asking Attila: - will you get late home from work HUN?:)
He answered: - I think so my dear..I have some business in Rome. But wait for me I bring some surprise to you from there.
